Peshawar (zeenews.com) -- The Pakistani
Taliban have reportedly written a letter to senior clerics of the
country seeking a diktat against the democratic system and security
forces; and explaining why the banned outfit had rebelled against the
state.
According to the Daily Times, the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in
its six-page letter asked how could the Members of Parliament be called
Muslims if they had failed to legislate for enforcement of Shariah.
TTP also appealed to the sentiments of clerics by mentioning how the
Army was killing the "mujahideen" who, it said, were fighting for
enforcement of God's law in Pakistan.
The TTP said thousands of "mujahideen" had been killed in Army-led operations. They also complained about the clerics who were "silent" when the government was publicly acknowledging being a "front-line ally of America and NATO".
