Florida Gov. Scott Defies ObamaCare Mandate

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida Gov. Rick Scott now says Florida will do nothing to comply with President Barack Obama's health care overhaul and will not expand its Medicaid program. The announcement is a marked changed after the governor recently said he would follow the law if it were upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court.

"Florida is not going to implement Obamacare. We are not going to expand Medicaid and we're not going to implement exchanges," Scott's spokesman Lane Wright told The Associated Press on Saturday. Wright stressed that the governor would work to make sure the law is repealed.

Scott told Fox News the Medicaid expansion would cost Florida taxpayers $1.9 billion a year, but it's unclear how he arrived at that figure.

Scott said the state will not expand the Medicaid program in order to lower the number of uninsured residents, nor will Florida set up a state-run health exchange, a marketplace where people who need insurance policies could shop for them.

"We care about having a health care safety net for the vulnerable Floridians, but this is an expansion that just doesn't make any sense," he told Fox host Greta Van Susteren on Friday.

Egyptian Military Hands Over Power To Muslim Brotherhood

“Jihad is our path and death in the name of Allah is our goal”

(Reuters) - Egypt's new President Mohamed Mursi said on Saturday the military that took charge when Hosni Mubarak was overthrown last year had kept its promise to hand over power, speaking at a ceremony to mark the formal transfer of authority.

Mursi's comments followed a speech by Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi, who heads the military council. In his remarks, Tantawi also said the army had kept its pledge to oversee the nation until a president was elected.

The army council, before Mursi was sworn following his victory in an election this month, curbed presidential powers and took other steps to maintain a strong grip on Egypt.

"The Egyptian people and the ... world are witnessing a unique model, not seen before, of how power is transferred from the Egyptian military forces by the will of the people to an elected, civilian power," Mursi said.

"The armed forces handed over power with assurance and they kept their promise," he said, adding in his comments before generals and troops on parade that no one would "touch any of your rights" and promised to support their national work.

Shocking! Injustice Dept. Refuses To Prosecute Holder For Contempt Of Congress

Disgrace to the office of Attorney General
(Roll Call) -- The Department of Justice, following longstanding practice by prior administrations, is declining to prosecute Attorney General Eric Holder for being in contempt of Congress, Deputy Attorney General James Cole said Thursday in a letter to Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio).

Along with the contempt citation, House Republicans passed a resolution Thursday granting authority to bring a civil suit to enforce the contempt resolution.

“Across administrations of both political parties, the longstanding position of the Department of Justice has been and remains that we will not prosecute an Executive Branch official under the contempt of Congress statute for withholding subpoenaed documents pursuant to a presidential assertion of executive privilege,” Cole wrote.

In response, Republicans noted that they had not yet transmitted the contempt proceeding to the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, whom federal law accords the authority to determine whether to prosecute.

Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood President Wants US To Free Sheik Omar Abdel-Rahman

"Thank you, Caliph Obama for helping to advance the Global Jihad"
CAIRO (AP) -- Egypt's president-elect Mohammed Morsi has vowed to free the blind sheik jailed in the U.S. for a plot to blow up New York City landmarks.

In his first public speech addressing tens of thousands of mostly Islamist supporters, Morsi promised Saturday to work to free Omar Abdel-Rahman, the spiritual leader of men convicted in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.

Liar-In-Chief Says ObamaCare Law Is A Penalty Not A Tax

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The White House is pushing back against questions about whether President Barack Obama's health care law would mean new taxes for many people.

A day after the Supreme Court upheld the law, White House press secretary Jay Carney says the law will create a "penalty" that will affect about 1 percent of those who refuse to get health insurance.

He says the penalty was modeled after the one put in place in Massachusetts when Republican Mitt Romney was governor. Romney is now Obama's presidential challenger.

The "tax" versus "penalty" label is important because the court said the penalty essentially is a tax, and that's why the government has the power to impose it.

Nancy Pelosi On ObamaCare Decision: GOP Are 'Handmaidens Of The Special Interests In Our Country'

Constitutional scholar Nasty Pelosi slams Republican opponents of ObamaCare at a press conference following today's Supreme Court decision.

Sarah Palin Says It's Time For 'Patriotic Americans To Rise Up To Protest'

Sarah Palin slams the Supreme Court decision on ObamaCare in her Facebook post:

Thank you, SCOTUS. This Obamacare ruling fires up the troops as America’s eyes are opened! Thank God.

This proves to be such an unsettling time in America as we undergo the fundamental transformation that Barack Obama promised he would do to us if elected. Obamacare was dealt in deception and confusion by flooding the public with an overwhelming amount of conflicting “rationale” via thousands of pages of unread legislative detail, which is the radical left’s M.O. Obama promised the American people this wasn’t a tax and that he’d never raise taxes on anyone making less than $250,000. We now see that this is the largest tax increase in history. It will slam every business owner and every one of the 50% of Americans who currently pay their taxes. The other 50% are being deceived if they think they’re going to get a free ride – because Medicaid is broke. Recipients of Obama’s “free health care” will have fewer choices and less accessibility. Trust me – this much more expensive health care WILL be rationed; to claim otherwise defies all economic and common sense.

We will not retreat on this. A newly elected legislative branch is key to defending our Republic and fundamentally restoring all that is good in America.

SCOTUS now rules this is a tax? Well, Congress has the ability to create taxes – and also has the ability to rescind them. Upon their return from the July recess, Congress should act immediately to repeal this terrible new tax on the American people, and indeed they must repeal all of Obamacare. This is the most brazen and sweeping new tax and government overreach imposed on us. We the People did not ask for this tax, we do not want this tax, and we can’t afford this tax. This is not an answer to America’s health care challenges.

It’s time, again, for patriotic Americans to rise up to protest this obvious infringement on our economic and personal freedom. November is just around the corner. Today, the Supreme Court issued their ruling on Obamacare. In November, We the People will issue ours. - Sarah Palin

Romney Vows To Repeal ObamaCare

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Republican Mitt Romney is promising that he will repeal the federal health care law the Supreme Court just upheld.

He called the decision incorrect and said Thursday that it is "bad law."

He says it raises taxes and cuts Medicare.

Romney says that, if elected in November, he will work to repeal and replace the law. But he hasn't said precisely how.

Emperor Obama Plans Visit To Fire Ravaged Colorado

"You never want a serious crisis to go to waste"

(Reuters) - Firefighters struggled on Wednesday to beat back a fiercely aggressive wildfire raging at the edge of Colorado Springs that has forced at least 35,000 people from their homes and was nipping at the edges of the U.S. Air Force Academy.

The so-called Waldo Canyon Fire, fanned by gusting winds, has gutted an unknown number of homes on the wooded fringes of Colorado's second-most populous city and prompted more evacuations as flames roared out of control for a fifth day.

President Barack Obama plans to pay a visit to the area on Friday to view the damage, the White House said.

The blaze flared Tuesday night with sudden ferocity and quickly overran fire containment lines, invading the northwestern corner of the city. But officials have declined to characterize the extent of property damage there.

Some House Dems To Vote Contempt For Holder

(Fox News) -- At least three Democrats have joined the ranks of Republicans planning to vote to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt over his refusal to turn over Operation Fast and Furious documents.
Operation Fast and Furious

The Democrats who have taken that stance so far are all conservative-leaning lawmakers facing perilous political circumstances in their home districts. Republican Rep. Darrell Issa, who is leading the charge on contempt, predicted to Fox News that up to 31 Democrats could be considering voting against Holder -- in reference to a letter signed by 31 Democrats last year expressing concern about Fast and Furious.

Sources told Fox News that about 20 Democrats are likely to vote with Republicans on Thursday.

The latest Democrats to announce an anti-Holder stance are Reps. Nick Rahall, D-W.Va., and John Barrow, D-Ga.

"While Republicans and Democrats argue over the scope of the people's right to know what happened, the Attorney General has decided to withhold relevant documents," Barrow said in a statement. "The only way to get to the bottom of what happened is for the Department of Justice to turn over the remaining documents, so that we can work together to ensure this tragedy never happens again."

Brainiac-In-Chief Praises 'Miami Heats' NBA Championship Victory

"Where's muh Teleprompter?"
(ABC News) -- Unfazed by a partisan spat sparked by his comment on former Red Sox player Kevin Youkilis, President Obama tonight again opined on a professional sports team, publicly praising the NBA champion Miami Heat at a campaign fundraiser in the city.

The only problem this time was that Obama mispronounced the name of the team - referring to it as the "Miami Heats" in an apparent slip of the tongue.

At the top of his remarks at the Jackie Gleason Theater in Miami Beach, Obama said his public recognition of dignitaries and special guests would be "incomplete if I did not congratulate the city of Miami for having the world champion Miami Heats here in town."

"You guys earned it," Obama said as the crowd applauded.

Kraft Foods Posts Rainbow Oreo Cookie Picture On Facebook In Honor Of Gay Pride Month

They're magically delicious!
(ABC News) -- America’s favorite cookie is stirring up more than milk today after Kraft Foods posted a gay pride Oreo on the cookie’s Facebook page.

Oreo posted the photoshopped picture of an Oreo cookie stuffed with rainbow-colored layers of frosting Monday evening with the caption “Proudly support love!”

Over the past 17 hours more than 157,000 people have “liked” the image, 40,000 people have shared it and 20,000 have commented on it.

But while many of the comments were supportive, some Facebook users pledged to boycott the cookie because of the post.

“I’ll never buy Oreo again,” one commenter wrote.

“Disgusted with oreos,” wrote another. “Being gay is an abmonitation in GOd’s eyes i wont be buying them anymore.”

Basil Maglaris, a spokeswoman for Oreo’s parent company Kraft Foods, said in a statement that the image was part of a “series of daily ads reflecting current events in a fun way using images of OREO cookies and milk.” Kraft is not planning to sell the rainbow-stuffed Oreo in stores, Maglaris said, as it was created solely for the advertising campaign in honor of Pride month.

Obama Vows To Be Insourcer-In-Chief If Re-elected...Update: Obama Campaign Uses Travel Company That Outsources

ATLANTA (AP) -- President Barack Obama is pledging to be an "insourcing" leader who will bring jobs that have moved overseas back to the U.S.

The president was building upon his campaign's recent attacks on Republican rival Mitt Romney's business record.

The Obama team says the private equity firm Romney formerly ran invested in companies that sent jobs to China and India.

Obama says the American people need a president in the White House who will bring jobs back to the U.S., not ship them overseas.

Update:

 Via The DC Caller:

A new ad from President Obama’s re-election campaign calls Mitt Romney “Outsourcer-in-Chief,” accusing the former businessman and presumptive Republican presidential nominee of overseeing companies that shipped jobs to China and India while leading Bain Capital.

But while Obama tries to hit Romney on this issue, records show that Obama’s campaign is using a travel booking company this year that have operations in India and China.

Federal Election Commission reports show that Obama for America made numerous payments to the corporate travel company Egencia as recently as May. They were made to Egencia’s Bellevue, Washington office.

Egencia is a corporate travel division of the online travel company Expedia and, according to its website, has call center operations “around the world.”

Obama Prepares Thousands Of Lawyers To Handle Election Related Disputes

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) -- President Barack Obama's campaign is recruiting legions of lawyers to handle disputes that may arise from now through Election Day.

Thousands of attorneys and support staffers have agreed to aid in the effort, providing legal support that appears to be unrivaled by Republicans or precedent.

Obama's campaign says it is particularly concerned about the implementation of new voter ID laws, challenges to voters and the handling of voter registration.

Obama legal counsel Robert Bauer contends that the GOP has pursued measures to prevent Obama from repeating his get-out-the-vote success of four years ago.

Jimmy Carter Denounces Obama For International Human Rights Violations

(ABC News) -- A former U.S. president is accusing the current president of sanctioning the "widespread abuse of human rights" by authorizing drone strikes to kill suspected terrorists.
You know things are bad when your role model turns on you

Jimmy Carter, America's 39 th president, denounced the Obama administration for "clearly violating" 10 of the 30 articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, writing in a New York Times op-ed on Monday that the "United States is abandoning its role as the global champion of human rights."

"Instead of making the world safer, America's violation of international human rights abets our enemies and alienates our friends," Carter wrote.

While the total number of attacks from unmanned aircraft, or drones, and the resulting casualties are murky, the New America Foundation estimates that in Pakistan alone 265 drone strikes have been executed since January 2009 . Those strikes have killed at least 1,488 people, at least 1,343 of them considered militants, the foundation estimates based on news reports and other sources.

In addition to the drone strikes, Carter criticized the current president for keeping the Guantanamo Bay detention center open, where prisoners "have been tortured by waterboarding more than 100 times or intimidated with semiautomatic weapons, power drills or threats to sexually assault their mothers."

The former president blasted the government for allowing "unprecedented violations of our rights to privacy through warrantless wiretapping and government mining of our electronic communications."

Al-Qaeda Has Trained Norwegian Muslim Convert To Carry Out Attacks

STOCKHOLM (AP) -- European security officials say a Norwegian man has received terrorist training from al-Qaida's offshoot in Yemen and is awaiting orders to attack the West.

Western intelligence officials have long feared such a scenario: a convert to Islam trained in terrorist methods who can blend in easily in Europe and the United States and travel without visa restrictions.

Officials from three European security agencies confirmed Monday that the man is "operational," meaning he has completed his training and is about to receive a target.

All requested anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the case.

Holder Warns Supreme Court Arizona Ruling Not License To Engage In Racial Profiling

          Via CNN:
"I welcome the Supreme Court’s decision to strike down major provisions of Arizona’s S.B. 1070 on federal preemption grounds. Today’s ruling appropriately bars the State of Arizona from effectively criminalizing unlawful status in the state and confirms the federal government’s exclusive authority to regulate in the area of immigration.
While I am pleased the Court confirmed the serious constitutional questions the government raised regarding Section 2, I remain concerned about the impact of Section 2, which requires law enforcement officials to verify the immigration status of any person lawfully stopped or detained when they have reason to suspect that the person is here unlawfully. As the Court itself recognized, Section 2 is not a license to engage in racial profiling and I want to assure communities around this country that the Department of Justice will continue to vigorously enforce federal prohibitions against racial and ethnic discrimination.
We will closely monitor the impact of S.B. 1070 to ensure compliance with federal immigration law and with applicable civil rights laws, including ensuring that law enforcement agencies and others do not implement the law in a manner that has the purpose or effect of discriminating against the Latino or any other community.
We will also work to ensure that the verification provision does not divert police officers away from traditional law enforcement efforts in order to enforce federal immigration law, potentially impairing local policing efforts and discouraging crime victims, including children of non-citizens, victims of domestic violence, and asylum seekers, from reporting abuses and crimes out of fear of detention or deportation.
We will continue to use every federal resource to protect the safety and civil rights of all Americans.”

Surprise! Muslim Brotherhood's President-Elect Wants Closer Ties With Iran

Heil Allah!
DUBAI (Reuters) - Egypt's Islamist President-elect Mohamed Mursi voiced interest in restoring long-severed ties with Tehran to create a strategic "balance" in the region, in an interview published on Monday with Iran's Fars news agency.

Mursi's comments are likely to unsettle Western powers as they try to isolate Iran over its disputed nuclear program, which they suspect it is using to develop a nuclear weapons capability. Tehran denies this.

Since former Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak was toppled by a popular uprising last year, both countries have signaled their interest in renewing ties which were severed more than 30 years ago.

"We must restore normal relations with Iran based on shared interests, and expand areas of political coordination and economic cooperation because this will create a balance of pressure in the region," Mursi was quoted as saying in a transcript of the interview.

Fars said it had spoken to Mursi a few hours before Sunday's announcement that declared him the winner of Egypt's presidential election.

Nutrition Czarina Michelle Obama Moves Against Cranberry Industry

"Listen, America. Eat your veggies and like it."
WASHINGTON – The federal government is expected to propose new nutrition standards soon that could leave a bitter taste in the mouths of cranberry growers from Massachusetts to Wisconsin.

To address childhood obesity in America, an effort spurred by first lady Michelle Obama's "Let's Move" initiative, the Department of Agriculture is finalizing guidelines for what can be sold in school vending machines, stores and a la carte cafeteria lines.

Sugar is widely viewed as a target, and sweetened beverages like cranberry juice cocktail could be deemed unhealthy.

That would be unfortunate and unfair, cranberry industry officials say, because the tart, deep red fruit is loaded with nutrients and health benefits. But for consumers to avail themselves of those benefits, cranberries must be sweetened.

"Cranberries can be sweetened with anything," said Linda Prehn, a cranberry grower in Tomah, Wis., citing apple juice as an example. "But you can't eat 'em raw. They're tough to eat straight up."

California Congressman Maxine Waters told Denver Democrats tonight that Republicans are waging a war on women on issues ranging from health care to wage disparity.

During her speech at the 5th annual House District 7 Unity Dinner, she accused Republicans of attacking President Obama any chance they get.

“We cannot allow the opportunities that America stands for to be eroded by those who simply want to bring this president down,” she said.

She was cheered when she said, “After a good night sleep, I wake up the next day, and I say, ‘Come on, Tea Party, let’s get it on.’'

Allen West On Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood Victory: "Arab Spring Is Radical Islamic Nightmare"

Via Facebook:

A year ago there were those of us who warned the Obama Administration of a Muslim Brotherhood takeover in Egypt. We were castigated as alarmists and loose cannons. Today our predictions have come to reality and the ominous specter reminding us of the Iranian revolution is evident. The Muslim Brotherhood claimed they would not run a presidential candidate. Clearly the Arab Spring is nothing more than a radical Islamic nightmare.

Obama Congratulates Muslim Brotherhood For Egyptian Presidential Victory

White House spokesman Jay Carney issued the following statement in response to the Egyptian presidential election:

"The United States congratulates Dr. Mohamed Morsi on his victory in Egypt’s Presidential election, and we congratulate the Egyptian people for this milestone in their transition to democracy.

"We look forward to working together with President-elect Morsi and the government he forms, on the basis of mutual respect, to advance the many shared interests between Egypt and the United States.  We believe that it is important for President-elect Morsi to take steps at this historic time to advance national unity by reaching out to all parties and constituencies in consultations about the formation of a new government. We believe in the importance of the new Egyptian government upholding universal values, and respecting the rights of all Egyptian citizens – including women and religious minorities such as Coptic Christians.  Millions of Egyptians voted in the election, and President-elect Morsi and the new Egyptian government have both the legitimacy and responsibility of representing a diverse and courageous citizenry.

Comrade Axelrod Says GOP Will Be 'Liberated' By Obama Win

Comrade Axelrod has drunk too much Obama Kool-Aid
(The Hill) -- Republicans of “good will” who want to work with President Obama will be “liberated” by his reelection in November, says Obama chief political strategist David Axelrod.

In an interview with C-SPAN, Axelrod said there are plenty of Republicans who would like to work with Obama but have been unable to because of a “kind of reign of terror” in which any act of cooperation with the president was seen as a betrayal.

Yet Axelrod insisted there are Republicans “of good will” would would like to work with Obama. “My belief is that when the president wins in November, we’re going to liberate these Republicans of good will,” Axelrod said.

He added that those Republicans will “blink into the light of a new day and they’re going to turn to the Grover Norquists of the world, frankly as Jeb Bush has recently, and say, ‘You know we did it your way, and frankly that was a failure for the country, and also for the Republican Party, and now we’re going to work together.’'

Clinton Announces $20 Million US Contribution For Clean Energy Projects In Africa

Obama's Green Energy scam continues
(The Hill) -- Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Friday announced a $20 million partnership between the United States and African nations to boost clean energy projects.

The aid money is part of the United States' contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Energy for All initiative, which was launched last year.

United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon announced during this week's Rio+20 U.N. summit on sustainable development that 50 countries have pledged $50 billion to the effort, which aims to double the share of global renewable energy by 2030.

“This initiative is already mobilizing significant action from all sectors of society,” Ban said at the summit, according to Reuters. “Working together, we can provide solutions that drive economic growth, expand equity and reduce the risks of climate change.”

Obama's Weakly Address: America's Infrastructure Needs Repair To Keep 'Recovery' Moving Forward

                               Dung-Shoveler-In-Chief
(The White House) -- Over the past three years, we’ve been clawing our way back from the worst economic crisis of our lifetimes. And we know it will take longer than any of us would like to fully recover all the jobs and savings that have been lost. But there are things we can do — right now — to help put people back to work and make life a little easier for middle-class families. For months, I’ve been pushing Congress to help us along by passing common-sense policies that would make a difference.

Democrats and Republicans have already done some important work together — like passing a tax cut that’s allowing working Americans to keep more of their paycheck every week.

But Congress has refused to act on most of the other ideas in my jobs plan that economists say could put a million more Americans back to work. There’s no excuse for inaction.

Right now, we are seven days away from thousands of American workers having to walk off the job because Congress hasn’t passed a transportation bill.

We are eight days away from nearly seven and a half million students seeing their loan rates double because Congress hasn’t acted to stop it. This makes no sense.

We know that one of the most important things we can do for our economy is to make sure that all Americans get the best education possible. Right now, the unemployment rate for Americans with a college degree or more is about half the national average. Their incomes are twice as high as those who don’t have a high school diploma. So, if we know that a higher education is the clearest path to the middle class, why would we make it harder to achieve?

So much of America needs to be repaired right now. Bridges are deteriorating after years of neglect. Highways are choked with congestion. Transportation delays cost Americans and businesses billions of dollars every year. And there are hundreds of thousands of construction workers who have never been more eager to get back on the job. So why would we let our transportation funding run out? This is a time when we should be doing everything in our power — Democrats and Republicans — to keep this recovery moving forward.

Obama Says What America Needs Is "Bottom Up Economics"

TAMPA, Fla., June 22 (UPI) -- U.S. President Barack Obama told a campaign rally in Florida Friday the country needs "some middle class-out economics, some bottom-up economics."

Speaking at Hillsborough Community College in Tampa, the president said the economy is growing, following the worst downturn since the Great Depression, "but it needs to grow faster."

He said what's holding back growth is "a stalemate between two fundamentally different views in Washington about which direction we should go in." He told his audience Republicans, including presumptive presidential nominee Mitt Romney, "believe that we should go back to the top-down economics of the last decade."

"They figure that if we simply eliminate regulations and cut taxes by trillions of dollars, then the market will solve all of our problems," Obama said.

Panderer-In-Chief Says Young Illegals "Are All Our Kids"

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (AP) -- President Barack Obama, in a strikingly personal appeal, renewed his call for an overhaul of America's immigration laws before a supportive Latino audience Friday.
Desperation time at Camp Obama

He portrayed rival Mitt Romney as an obstacle to measures that would give young illegal immigrants a path to citizenship.

"These are all our kids," he declared.

To a standing ovation, Obama spoke of his directive last week that immigrants brought illegally to the United States as children be exempted from deportation and granted work permits if they applied.

Reflecting on his own life as the first African-American president, he said: "When I meet these young people, all throughout communities, I see myself. Who knows what they might achieve? I see my daughters, and my nieces, and my nephews."

"That's the promise that draws so many talented, driven people to these shores. That's the promise that drew my own father here," said Obama, whose father was Kenyan.

Egyptian Terror Group Member Met With Senior Obama Officials

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The State Department said Friday it is looking into how a self-professed member of a banned Egyptian terrorist organization was issued a U.S. visa and traveled to Washington this week for meetings with senior Obama administration officials.

Spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said the "circumstances of this particular case" were being reviewed.

She declined to discuss specifics, citing privacy laws, but said the department is trying to better understand how and why Hani Nour Eldin was granted a visa and held meetings with officials at the White House and State Department. Eldin, a recently elected member of Egypt's parliament, was one of six Egyptian legislators invited to visit Washington by the Woodrow Wilson Center think tank for discussions about the current political situation in Egypt.

However, Eldin has also identified himself as a member of Gamaa Islamiya, or the Egyptian Islamic Group, which the State Department has designated a "foreign terrorist organization."

Members of such groups are ineligible for U.S. visas and barred from entering the United States.

Dictator-In-Chief Proudly Says He Gave "Sense of Hope" To Illegal Aliens

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (AP) -- Appealing to Hispanic voters, President Barack Obama on Friday defended his decision to lift the threat of deportation for hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants, saying it gave them an overdue "sense of hope."

He challenged Republicans in Congress to join him finally on a big, broad fix of the U.S. immigration laws.

Obama tailored his re-election message of economic fairness and opportunity to his audience of Latino officials, addressing the group one day after Republican rival Mitt Romney did the same.

Hispanic voters are a vital constituency in states that could swing the election, from Florida to Nevada to Virginia.

The president said the nation needs ideas and policies that build up the middle class and "our current immigration system doesn't reflect those values."

The system punishes immigrants who play by the rules and drives away entrepreneurs who can get an education in America but cannot stay here legally, he said.

Obama spoke to the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials near Orlando, his first speech to a Hispanic group since he decreed that many young illegal immigrants brought to the United States as children would be exempted from deportation and granted work permits valid for two years.

"It was the right thing to do," Obama declared.

Michelle Obama To Lead American Delegation At Olympics Opening Ceremony

"For the first time in my adult lifetime, I’m really proud of my country."
(Yahoo! News) -- First Lady Michelle Obama will lead the official American delegation to the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games in London, the White House announced on Friday.

The group includes women's soccer Olympic great Brandi Chastain and basketball star Grant Hill, a member of the 1992 "Dream Team."

"This summer I'll be cheering on Team U.S.A. at the Olympic Games in London with this distinguished group of champions who truly represent the best of our country," the first lady said in a statement released by the White House.

Gay Activists Give Middle Finger To Reagan Portrait In White House

Last Friday, an attaché of important gay people from Philadelphia made a trip to Washington D.C. as invited guests of President Barack Obama for the White House’s first-ever Gay pride reception.
Obama's people

There, they danced to the sounds of a Marine Corps band; they dined on crab cakes and canapés; they hand-delivered letters from concerned citizens like this 18-year old who has had four people close to him gunned down, and noted rhyming raconteur CA Conrad; and some of them took advantage of photo opportunities to give the late President Ronald Reagan the middle finger.

“It’s not a gesture that I would use in the White House when representing our city and our community,” opines Philadelphia Gay News publisher Mark Segal (center), who opted for a sarcastic thumbs-up pose in front of the portrait of George W. Bush over the more vulgar one demonstrated by his Reagan-loathing peers, Matthew “Matty” Hart (left), the national director of public engagement at Solutions for Progress, and self-taught photographer turned toast-of-the-town Zoe Strauss.

“I have friends who work in that building,” Segal explains. “I’m not going to do something that could embarrass them or that could somehow damage a campaign that is so important. ‘Be on your best behavior,’ my staff told me.’ I think they know me too well.”

Speaker Boehner Warns House Republicans Not To Celebrate If ObamaCare Is Overturned

Needs to grow a pair
(The Hill) -- Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) warned Republican House members not to to celebrate if the Supreme Court rules against the healthcare law.

"There will be no spiking of the ball," he wrote in a memo to the conference.
"Republicans are focused on the economy … We will not celebrate at a time when millions of our fellow Americans remain out of work."

The memo came after a tense morning when the Supreme Court could have issued its ruling, but did not.

The next possible day for a decision is Monday, June 25. Justices could also issue a ruling later next week.

In the memo, Boehner did not address how GOP members should act if the law is upheld.

He repeated that the House will vote to repeal any part of the law, which he referred to as "ObamaCare," left standing by the Supreme Court, and that any attempt to enact new reforms will be "step-by-step."

"Republicans will not repeat the Democrats' mistakes," he wrote. "We won't rush to pass a massive bill the American people don't support."

Obama's 'Fine' Economy Not Doing So Well

(Reuters) -- U.S manufacturing grew in June at its slowest pace in 11 months and hiring in the sector slowed as overseas demand for U.S. products waned, an industry survey showed on Thursday.

The number of Americans filing new claims for unemployment benefits was also little changed last week, according to the U.S. Labor Department.

Financial information firm Markit said its U.S. "flash" manufacturing Purchasing Managers Index fell to 52.9 from 54.0 in May. The June reading was the lowest since last July although it stayed above 50, indicating expansion in activity.

For the second straight month, weaker demand from Europe and large emerging markets such as China dented sales. Markit said U.S. manufacturers reported the second largest decline in new export orders since September 2009.

The index's new orders component fell to 54.1 from 54.6.

Manufacturing has been one of the strongest links in an otherwise frail U.S. economic recovery, but Markit said weaker overseas demand may be starting to slow hiring in the sector.

The employment component fell in June to 53.1, reflecting the weakest rate of hiring in eight months. It stood at 54.3 at the end of May.

The number of Americans filing new claims for unemployment benefits was also little changed last week, according to the U.S. Labor Department.

David Duke Endorses Jew-Hating Democrat For Congress

The Democratic Party is facing an awkward problem Thursday because white supremacist David Duke has endorsed a leading candidate in the Democratic Party’s primary race for a New York House seat.

Duke says he’s endorsing Charles Barron, the leading candidate for the 10th district primary on June 26, because of their shared emnity toward “zionists.”

Barron is an African-American city politician who has been slammed as an anti-white racist and as a Jew-hater. However, he’s already got the endorsement of the retiring Democratic congressman, Rep. Edolphus Towns.
Turds of a feather

If Barron wins the June 26 primary, he’s a shoo-in for election in November because the district is overwhelmingly Democratic.

His election would be unnerving for many Democrats, including Jewish Democrats. Recent polls say that traditionally high support among orthodox Jews for the Democratic Party is declining toward 50 percent.

Executioner-In-Chief Rejects ACLU and NY Times Requests For "Kill List" Info

"Transparency and the rule of law will be the touchstones of this Presidency"

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Obama administration has rejected requests from The New York Times and the American Civil Liberties Union seeking information about its "targeted killing" program against suspected terrorists, saying the release of the requested documents would harm national security.

Under the Freedom of Information Act, the Times and the ACLU sought records regarding the legal justifications for the alleged U.S. government killing of U.S. citizens and others associated with al-Qaida and other terrorist groups.

In a court document filed late Wednesday in New York in response to an ACLU lawsuit, the Justice Department said that "even to describe the numbers and details of most of these documents would reveal information that could damage the government's counterterrorism efforts."

The administration said the information requested is "highly classified," even though details of such operations have been leaked to the media.

"For example, whether or not the United States government conducted the particular operations that led to the deaths of Anwar al-Awlaki and the other individuals named in the FOIA requests remains classified," the government wrote. The U.S.-born al-Awlaki, an al-Qaida leader, was killed in a U.S. drone strike in Yemen in September.

"Likewise, whether or not the CIA has the authority to be, or is in fact, directly involved in targeted lethal operations remains classified," the government wrote.

In response to the government filing, ACLU Deputy Legal Director Jameel Jaffer said Thursday: "The notion that the CIA's targeted killing program is still a secret is beyond absurd. Senior officials have discussed it, both on the record and off."

Courageous Republican Senators Won't Call Obama's Illegal Alien Ploy Amnesty

WASHINGTON (AP) -- When it comes to President Barack Obama's new immigration policy, Senate Republicans are quite sure they don't like it.

They just don't want to say if it amounts to amnesty, at least not yet, while they await guidance on the politically charged issue from presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

"If it leads to citizenship as a reward for some kind of illegal entry, I think it could be argued" to be amnesty, said Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell, who normally is one of Obama's most plainspoken critics.

Sen. Saxby Chambliss of Georgia said the president's announcement last Friday could be called "amnesty light," if not the real thing.

"It all depends on how you define `amnesty,' and I'm not going to get into that debate," added Arizona Sen. Jon Kyl, second-ranking party leader and another frequent critic of Obama.

"I wouldn't use the A-word to describe this. ... That's a word that gets used a lot," said Sen. John Cornyn.

Saudi Activists Call On Women To Defy Driving Ban

(Reuters) - A group of Saudi activists are calling on women to get behind the wheel next week in defiance of a ban on female drivers, reviving a campaign that petered out last year.

Driving While Female is an offense against Allah
"If women don't take action, the authorities will not lift the ban. It is up to women to decide," Manal Alsharif, one of the campaign organizers who was detained last year after posting a video of her driving in the streets of the city of Khobar, told Reuters on Tuesday.

Under Saudi Arabia's strict Islamic laws, women require a male guardian's permission to travel abroad, undergo some types of medical surgery and work in some jobs.

While there is no written legislation banning women from driving, Saudi law requires citizens to use locally issued licenses while in the country.

Such licenses are not issued to women, making it effectively illegal for them to drive.

"The key to lifting the ban on women driving in Saudi Arabia is to start with the women themselves ... That is why we ask the authorities to protect those women who need to practice that right," they said in an emailed statement sent to Reuters.

Republican Congressman Proposes Bill To Block Obama Illegal Alien Deportation Policy

(The Hill) -- Rep. David Schweikert (R-Ariz.) on Monday proposed legislation that would block enforcement of President Obama's new policy of letting certain illegal immigrants request temporary relief from deportation.

Schweikert's bill would specifically prohibit the Department of Homeland Security from allowing that relief, which Obama described on Friday as an option for up to 800,000 immigrants who came to the United States illegally at a young age. Schweikert said his bill would prevent Obama from "dictating" immigration law from the White House.

"Last week, the president decided to grant amnesty and hand out work permits to hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants, while over 23 million Americans remain unemployed and the civilian participation rate is at a 30-year low," he said Monday. "This amounts to an abdication of duty to the American people who are struggling in this economy.

"Instead of working with Congress to secure our border and reform our immigration policy, President Obama sought to circumvent Congress once again."

Obama Regime Alarmed Egyptian Military Undermining Muslim Brotherhood Victory

(Reuters) - The United States expressed alarm that its protégés in the Egyptian army were abusing hopes for democracy by ordering more military rule just as the Muslim Brotherhood was claiming victory in the country's first free presidential election.

The Islamists' self-assurance was contested by the other candidate in the run-off race, a former general who was prime minister when Hosni Mubarak was ousted last year by an army anxious to save itself from the revolution in the streets.

But there was still no result from the two-day poll, although independent officials privately spoke of a likely win for Islamist Mohamed Morsy over military man Ahmed Shafik.

Yet whatever the outcome - and one electoral supervisor said it might not be announced until Thursday - the new president was shorn in advance of much of his power by a decree issued by the ruling Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) just as polling stations closed and two days after it had dissolved a new, Islamist-led parliament.

In protest, the liberal urban youth movements which were in the vanguard of protests at Cairo's Tahrir Square 16 months ago, as well as the Brotherhood and other supporters of the uprising, plan a major demonstration there later on Tuesday.

"This decree just makes plain the hegemony of SCAF," said Khaled Ali, a liberal lawyer eliminated in the first round of voting. "This decree strips the president of the powers he was elected to have and gives those to the military council."

The constitutional declaration, one more twist in Egypt's halting progress toward democracy since the Arab Spring, effectively means that a July 1 deadline promised for a handover to civilian rule has been reduced to semantics, since the new civilian president looks to be very close to powerless.
Liberals and Islamists called it a "military coup".

U.S. "DEEPLY CONCERNED"

Washington, which only in March agreed to hand over $1.3 billion in annual aid to the biggest army in the Middle East, was far from pleased - not least, it seemed, because the man in charge of the council, Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi, failed to mention his plan when assuring Defense Secretary Leon Panetta on Friday that the target date for civilian rule would be met.

"We are deeply concerned about the new amendments to the constitutional declaration, including the timing of their announcement as polls were closing," a Pentagon spokesman said, adding that he did not think Tantawi had alerted Panetta when they spoke.

"We believe Egypt's transition must continue and that Egypt is made stronger and more stable by a successful transition to democracy," spokesman George Little said. "We support the Egyptian people in their expectation that the (SCAF) will transfer full power to a democratically elected civilian government, as the SCAF previously announced."

Fort Hood Islamaniac Must Shave Beard Or Be Barred From Courtroom...Update: Maniac Has Been Barred From Hearing

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) -- The Army psychiatrist charged in the fatal Fort Hood shooting rampage will be barred from the courtroom during his pretrial hearing Tuesday if he hasn't shaved his beard and will be forced to watch the proceedings on closed-circuit television.
I have a better idea. Cut off his beard and his head.

Maj. Nidal Hasan surprised the judge earlier this month when he appeared in court with a beard, which violates Army regulations. The judge, who has the power to bar defendants from court for such violations, issued the order and postponed the hearing until Tuesday.

Hasan had been clean-shaven in all other court appearances since the 2009 attack, which killed 13 people and injured more than 30 others on the sprawling Texas military post about 125 miles southwest of Fort Worth.

Fort Hood officials wouldn't say Monday whether Hasan would be charged if he shows up unshaven.

One possible charge is failure to obey a lawful order or regulation, which carries a maximum two-year jail sentence.

Update:

FORT HOOD, Texas (AP) -- A judge has barred an Army psychiatrist charged in a deadly shooting rampage at Fort Hood from military court because he still has a beard.

Maj. Nidal Hasan was told Tuesday that he couldn't attend any more hearings unless he shaves. The judge, Col. Gregory Gross, initially warned Hasan that he was violating Army policy at a hearing earlier this month.

Hasan was removed from court and was to watch the rest of Tuesday's proceedings on closed-circuit television from a nearby room.

Lead defense attorney Lt. Col. Kris Poppe says Hasan grew the beard as a "deeply sincere" expression of his Islamic faith and because he has a premonition he will die soon.

Mexican President Calls Obama's New Illegal Alien Policy "Humanitarian Action"

How "humanitarian" are Mexican laws pertaining to illegal immigration?
LOS CABOS, Mexico (AP) -- Mexico's president is praising President Barack Obama for having the "courage" to limit the deportation of some young illegal immigrants living in the U.S.

President Felipe Calderon thanked Obama on behalf of the Mexican people for what he called a "valuable decision." Obama announced Friday that illegal immigrants will be able to avoid deportation if they can prove they were brought to the U.S. before they turned 16 and are younger than 30, have been in the country for at least five continuous years, have no criminal history, and graduated from a U.S. high school or earned a GED or served in the military.

Calderon called Obama's decision a "humanitarian action."

Balmy Prince Charlie Says Climate Change Inaction Will Be "Catastrophic"

All hail the Prince of Fools!
(BBC News) -- The Prince of Wales has warned of the "catastrophic" consequences of inaction on issues such as climate change, at a UN sustainability conference in Brazil.

Prince Charles said he had "watched in despair" at the slow pace of progress on the "critical issues of the day," in a pre-recorded video address in Rio.

He urged world leaders to adopt a more integrated approach to issues such as climate change and food security.

Waiting for the worst to happen would be "too late to act at all", he said.

Rio+20, the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, is attended by heads of state and representatives from governments, non-governmental organisations and the private sector.

In his address, the prince said scientific evidence showed the potential consequences of ignoring the risks.

'Sceptical reluctance'

"Like a sleepwalker, we seem unable to wake up to the fact that so many of the catastrophic consequences of carrying on with 'business-as-usual' are bearing down on us faster than we think, already dragging many millions more people into poverty and dangerously weakening global food, water and energy security for the future," he said.

Muslim Brotherhood Declares Victory In Egypt Presidential Election

CAIRO (AP) -- The Muslim Brotherhood declared early Monday that its candidate, Mohammed Morsi, won Egypt's presidential election, which would be the first victory of an Islamist as head of state in the stunning wave of protests demanding democracy that swept the Middle East the past year.
Caliph Obama is pleased

But the military handed itself the lion's share power over the new president, sharpening the possibility of confrontation.

With parliament dissolved and martial law effectively in force, the generals issued an interim constitution making themselves Egypt's lawmakers, taking control over the budget and granting themselves the power to determine who writes the permanent constitution that will define the country's future.

But as they claimed a narrow victory over Hosni Mubarak's last prime minister Ahmed Shafiq after a deeply polarizing election, the Brotherhood challenged the military's power grab.

The group insisted on Sunday that it did not recognize the dissolution of parliament, where it was the largest party.

It also said it rejects the military's interim constitution and its right to oversee the drafting of a new one.

Libtard Icon Bill Maher Says "The Problem With Racism Is Matt Drudge"

(Mediaite) -- Last week, actress Gwyneth Paltrow tweeted a picture of herself with Kanye West and Jay-Z with the caption “N**gas in Paris.” This set off a huge firestorm with people hurling accusations of racism her way. Wait until these same people find out her Iron Man co-star once performed in blackface!

Bill Maher dismissed the whole thing as a stupid internet controversy, and suggested that if you were looking for a good example of what a racist is actually like, you need only make your way over to the Drudge Report.

Maher said that “the problem with racism is not Gwyneth Paltrow, the problem with racism is Matt Drudge.” He pointed to a few examples of Drudge posting angry pictures of black men on the site including Louis Farrakhan, Al Sharpton, and Michael Jordan. Maher concluded, “This is racism in America.”

Panderer-In-Chief Says Gays Have: "Every Right to Push, Loudly and Forcefully, For Equality"

(The Christian Post) -- Barack Obama marked LGBT Pride Month on Friday with a White House reception and told gay supporters that they have "every right to push, loudly and forcefully, for equality."

Barry bends over backwards for the gay vote
"I've said before that I would never counsel patience; that it wasn't right to tell you to be patient any more than it was right for others to tell women to be patient a century ago, or African-Americans to be patient a half century ago," he said at the reception involving community leaders, students, politicians and servicemen and women.

It's been over a month now since Obama made the historic announcement that he and his wife now support same-sex couples getting married.

He reiterated his support for gay marriage on Friday.

"Americans may be still evolving when it comes to marriage equality but as I've indicated personally, Michelle and I have made up our minds on this issue," he stressed.

"So we still have a long way to go, but we will get there. We'll get there because of all of you."

Obama listed numerous pro-gay actions his administration has taken over the last three years. They include the Matthew Shepard Act, health insurance reform that would allow gay or lesbian partners to visit their loved one in the hospital, ending support for the federal Defense of Marriage Act, and the repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," among others.

Further appealing to gay supporters, Obama expressed his commitment to get the Employment Non-Discrimination Act passed.

"Congress needs to pass that legislation, so that no American is ever fired simply for being gay or transgender," he said.
